Woodshop

Located in a 2,000 square-foot open-air tent, the Woodshop is a hotbed of activity at Hayground.  Led by master craftsman Piet Vermeer and his staff of woodworkers and design students, campers age 5 and up hammer, saw, and sand imagination into reality. Birdhouses, dollhouses, tables, chairs, desks, and sculpture all take shape in one of the most popular spots on campus.

In late July, the Woodshop invites all campers age 6 and up to design and build a go-cart with a small team of fellow campers.  Piet and his staff guide campers through the entire process, which culminates in our annual go-cart race, The Hayground 500.
